At Boothe Laser Center, we recognize that many patients get anxious about their LASIK eye surgery. This is completely normal. To help calm your nerves about your pending procedure, the following information will help you understand a little bit more about the day of your treatment.

Preparing for Your Arrival

When you are getting ready in the morning, it is important to make proper preparations. In particular, make sure that you are not wearing any contact lenses or makeup. Typically, the Dallas eye clinic will advise you to stop wearing contacts three days prior to your LASIK eye surgery. You should take your normal medications before arriving at the the laser center. Also, wear comfortable clothing so that you can rest after you are finished with your procedure.

During the Procedure

The procedure does not take long. A local anesthesia will be dropped in your eyes. Then, the doctor will spend approximately 10 minutes correcting your vision problems. If you want, you can request a mild sedative.

Recovering From LASIK

After the procedure is over, you can go home and rest. Your vision should be noticeably better. However, some people experience a little bit of dryness and discomfort. The doctor will provide you with drops to help with this. The next day, you should be able to return to your normal activities.
